Monastery NS Patron Archbishop Eamon Martin Visits

School Patron Archbishop Eamon Martin visited Monastery National School Ardee on Thursday, May 7th. He was welcomed by school Principal Mr Jim McGee and staff to a full school assembly and the school choir sang a song of welcome also. He was accompanied by local Parish Priest, Father Peter Murphy and Father Anselm.

Archbishop Eamon spoke warmly to the boys about his job as a bishop like a shepherd caring for his flock of sheep. He said that when he was very young he asked Jesus to be his special friend and he asked the boys to also ask Jesus to be their best friend for the rest of their lives. He spoke about the words of the choir's first song, "
I was Here", about making a difference in the world today. He then prayed with the pupils for all who are sick in their families at the moment.

At the end of the assembly sixth class student, Cillian Keenan, presented Archbishop Eamon with a gift from the pupils and staff of Monastery NS, Ardee to mark his visit. The choir then sang "
Happy" as Archbishop Eamon Martin bade farewell to all the pupils and staff.
