Many of our pupils are also avid soccer enthusiasts and we afford pupils the opportunity to play the game daily in the school yard, where soccer pitches are lined out and available to those who wish to play. Soccer skills such as ball control and passing are also developed during PE and many of our pupils have had great success with local soccer clubs such as Ardee Celtic and Square United who are based in the Ardee area.

On Monday November 8th our 3rd/4th class soccer team took part in the Louth FAI Futsal Soccer Competition in the JJB Stadium at Dundalk. 55 teams particpated and our boys did exceptionally well coming second overall. The competiton is 5 a side with a squad of 12 players. The competiton rules are very much like ordinary soccer but played indoors with less players. The soccer pitches in our school yard with our new sets of goals are an ideal training ground!

The squad included the following boys;

Fourth Class
David Carry, Gavin Kirk, Dónal McKenny, Eddie Ooi, James Reilly, Cian Smyth, Liam Thistleton, Liam Travers.

Third Class
