Animated Films Using Clay Figures - Claymation
Clay animation or Claymation is one of many forms of stop motion animation. Each animated piece, either character or background, is "deformable" — made of a malleable substance, usually Plasticine clay. Master Declan Keane has worked with some sixth class boys to produce the animated film on the right of this page. Each character was made from plasticine and placed on a set. A photo is taken of the scene and then the character is moved slightly and another photo is taken. The process is repeated hundreds of times until there are enough photos to make a short film.
