The group stages of our 5th class World Cup tournament concluded with a final day of drama that wouldn’t be matched in Qatar!
With Uruguay sitting top of the group and their place booked in the final, there was still much to be decided with only one game to go.
Japan, with a strong team and needing only a draw to go through, were feeling very confident. Disaster struck however, as Argentina raced into an early lead. Feeling the pressure, Japan pushed forward in search of an equaliser.
It wasn’t to be however as Argentina’s defence held firm and set the foundation for their team to win the match 3-0.
2nd placed Argentina will face 3rd placed Senegal; Uruguay await the winners. Fixtures to be played on Wednesday, 14th December.
